Public Figures must grow thick skin to succeed
Do you ever feel that online marketing may be a little too vulnerable for you?
Do you hear the voices in the back of your head as you’re getting ready to post something on Social Media?
You know the ones… the ones that say:
“who are you to make that statement?”
“Everyone in your family will see this and call you out”
“Your past co-workers will judge you”
“Your fans will leave if you make such a bold statement”
I can relate…
When I first started to brand myself I was mixed with fear and excitement.
Excited because I knew that If I didn’t put myself “out there” then I wouldn’t attract any clients.
Well let’s be honest… no clients = no cash flow in my business as that’s my main stream of income.
So, as I started to put myself out there more, the voices started to get quieter. It started to feel a lot less like I was stepping out of the shower without a bath towel covering my bit’s and pieces ( <—- that’s my British side coming out that I wish I had! lol)
I started to feel empowered, less vulnerable. I started to see the feedback of what my inspiration was creating in others hearts and lives. I would get private messages that told me how much I had changed their lives…
Yes… just by stepping into the spotlight you truly give others permission to shine!
Then it became about, the brighter I shine, the more people I can help and that makes my heart super happy!
The other honest truth about shining bright is that you’ll start to annoy some people and they will follow you less and less and drop off altogether.
Don’t let that stop you!
That’s their issue.
Perhaps you talk about making money often and that brings out a lot of fear in their world. Or perhaps you like to point out the changes you’ve made in your life and that bothers them because it’s shining a spotlight on the areas they need to create change in.
