Is Happiness truly a choice?
Is Happiness truly a choice?
Do you ever find yourself having one of those days where nothing is going right and you want to go back to bed and start over? During one of your inner temper tantrums someone notices your grumpy mindset and states, hey… happiness is a choice and you want to punch them? Cmon weve all had those days where our attitude just plain sucks. Right?
I had a day not too long ago where everything seemed to go wrong, starting with getting gas on the way to work. I left the gas cap on my car, which means that it flew off as I drove away in my little red speed racer. Im embarrassed to say that my mid afternoon errand resulted into a wardrobe mishap then the day proceeded into moments at work where I was experiencing technical difficulties and everything seemed like a challenge. I wanted to go home, bury my head under the covers and beg for a do over.
I explain my own personal struggles with you so that you can view me as an everyday person, just like you. I have areas in my life that I experience resistance and fear. I have challenges where I wonder if Im going in the right direction in my life. I also wonder how much my life is really impacting anyone. This is why feedback from your clients and online audience is so important.
I received some endearing emails last week that brought tears to my eyes as I realized that my mission to help others get clear on their next business venture, their choices in health and financial wealth do make a difference. Nothing feels better as a coach then seeing your clients soar and hit goals that they never dreamed would be possible.
I was having one of those bad days when a dear friend of mine from Australia sent me a link that I wanted to share with you. Its 25 things that happy people do differently. Do you ever notice that some people are just plain chipper all the time? Do you think they are being superficial or genuine? I am one of those positive, heart-warming individuals that on most days others may think Im literally on something or have just won the lotto. When in reality I love to see the silver lining in every cloud. I believe I inherited this trait from my adorable mother. The down side to being so positive is that I do have my dark days too. So I invite you to take a peek at the link below and see the 25 ways people that are happy do things differently. The main difference boils down to one thing, the thoughts that bounce around in your head. Then learning to control your thoughts is challenge #1. Then learning of what to think of in place of self-sabotaging thoughts is challenge #2.
You can control your day. My suggestion to you when things are starting to take a turn for the worst starting with the alarm going off, be mindful of that progression. Take a time out and meditate. If youre method is prayer, go somewhere quiet and regain that inner peace into your soul again. Then reface your day with a brighter attitude and a fierce mindset of controlling the day to go where you want it to, instead of feeling like youre falling down an elevator shaft without a rope to grab on to.
Here is the link I wanted to pass along to you. I printed it out to place near my desk as a great reminder. I encourage you to do the same.
